The fine weaving structure of Twill 10, with its diagonally appearing interlace creates a nice shine, a full grip and an elegant fall. This attractive silk is less transparent then most other fabrics of similar weight. Therefore colors appear especially intense on Twill. In France, Twill is known as Foulard silk and is used for the world famous printed shawls from Paris. Twill 10 barely wrinkles, shawls and scarves of this quality can easily be tied.
 

This design example shows two different techniques: top left a water coloring and on the bottom right a wax/tie-dye technique.
 

This design example was created using the wax technique and the fine, typical craquelure is very nicely visible. First the stretched white fabric was covered in app. 2cm wide lines out of hot wax. Then the shawl was taken off the frame, carefully crumbled up and stretched onto the frame again. The free areas were painted with steam fixable silk paint and the fine cracks were covered with paint as well. After fixing and removing the rests of wax through dry-cleaning, you are left with an intensively silk shimmering shawl, which has a gorgeous soft grip.
