Today, Silk Gauze - the established classic - is the most popular ground for nuno-felting. Because
of the large demand from all over the world, we offer the finest crepe
fabric of our range of goods in a scale of 40 perfectly coordinated
colours - for sale by the meter, or as extra-wide, diligently
hand-rolled scarves.
The manufacturing of this extremely delicate fabric on traditional Chinese looms is still a real art! The fabric is woven from the same yarns as Pongee 05, but with an additional, challenging procedure: the yarns for Silk Gauze 3.5 are intricately twisted and over-wound to create the typical crepe-effect. The warp as well as the weft is made from these over-wound yarns.
Silk Gauze 3.5 is suited for all silk-painting techniques, and of course it is ideal for nuno-felting. Through felting, FLYFEL®-web and FLYFEL®-tops bond especially well and quickly with the fine fabric, resulting in a beautifully even and comfortably soft felt-surface.
