Painting pictures with FLYFEL®-web is completely possible with some patience and intuition. In the beginning, simple geometrical patterns are especially well suited.

This is how it works:
First, cut out 1-3 cm wide stripes of any length of FLYFEL®-web. The more narrow the stripes, the more narrow the later felted lines. They should not be much more narrow than 1cm, due to their stability. Lay the design freely onto white FLYFEL®-web, which lays on a base, e.g. chiffon. The brightly colorful areas are created in two different ways: either with small pieces of colorful FLYFEL®-web (available in 40 colors), or with different scraps of silk fabric. Light pongé or chiffon fabrics are also perfectly suitable. Cut out the pieces a little bit bigger than the visible opening, so that the edges are held in place by the black stripes when later felted. Pay attention to the black stripes, that they are not completely covering the colorful areas. Carefully felt along the stripes first, these connect pretty quickly with the fleece base. Later felt with a little more pressure. The parts with laid on silk need a little bit more work. As soon as the pongé starts to crinkle a little, the piece is finished. After rinsing out the soap sud, a rinse cycle in vinegar is advised, in order to get the silk to shine again. This technique is not only suitable for scarves and pillows but simple stretched canvases can also easily be turned into real pieces of art.
